I hate public restrooms

If or when I ever decide to own a business I will accommodate my customers with a warm, clean, inviting restroom. Who one earth came up with the idea that people should have to wipe their ass with freakin sandpaper if they use a public restroom? Probably the same A-hole who decided these restrooms should be cleaned once a week.

People who clean restrooms should get paid top dollar. I am going to say..... just throwing it out there..... $50,000/year to clean restrooms.

The freakin things should be cleaned every hour on the hour. People should pay a freakin deposit to use the freakin toilet and the cleaning guy should check behind them for cleanliness before returning the freakin deposit.

Dirty people shouldn't even be allowed into the establishment to begin with. No dirty people allowed my business will say. What kind of lowlife scumbag people walk around dirty and disgusting peeing all over public toilets anyway?

That's my rant, I've offered a few different solutions here. Somebody please let Walmart, Kmart, Target, and Meijers know how I feel.

As Mrs. Lennon taught me in 7th grade if you are looking for consistency in your toilets while traveling you will learn to love McToilets.

Good day.

  1. I couldnt agree more!!!! We actually run a cleaning franchise called Sparkling Image and we focus on deep cleaning restrooms. What is amazing to us is that managers of restaurants, the Walmarts and Targets and so many other facilities will spend thousands on couponing and flowers in the front, but they wont spend 125.00 to provide clean facilities for paying customers! They are more than happy to take your money any day but spending on their customers is just unheard of. Many say we have our employees do it and all I can say is they ARE NOT cleaning. You would be really disturbed if you saw some of the before and after pictures from our demo's and management says they just cant afford it and their employees are going to continue the cleaning. If you want to help figure out a way to make these people understand I am open to suggestions.

  2. Stacy -- Read a book Titled "Solution Sales" first, then read a book titled "Good to Great" second.

You will find your answer in these books.

#1 You need to sell your service to the person who will care about their customers experience. If you are selling to a manager in charge of keeping budgets low and that is their main focus, well then that is their main focus. You're probably wasting your time at Walmarts.

#2 You have to take ownership in every job as if it was your own business.

#3 You should build a portfolio of satisfied customers and have an easily accessible presentation detailing your satisfied customers.

#4 I'd be willing to bet the managers you are referring to do not use the same restrooms. I'd create a checklist and ask the manager to help you go through the restroom in full detail. Ask him if he is really satisfied with the grafitti on the wall, or the crap on the floor. Make him actually spend some time in the environment in question. The full experience, smell and all.

  3. As a follow up to my original post I must ask; Why do they put the doors on the stalls to swing in, then leave exactly 3" between the opened door and the toilet? Who design's these things. In the midst of a 200,000 SF store they can't afford an extra 12" between the door and the toilet? And how about the door's into and out of the restroom? Who the frick wants to touch a door handle to get out of a room where 750 other people have just urinated all over themselves and then left without washing their hands. The whole concept is disgusting. You wonder why people are sick all the time?? That is why, public restrooms. Hate em'
