Say a nice used Hybrid sells for around $8000. I paid just over $2000 for my nice used Escort. I could get around 65 MPG in the Hybrid, I currently get around 30. So potentially I could save almost $1400 per year in gas. It would take me over four years to make up the difference in initial cost. Then there is potential for high maintenance cost (replacing batteries).
The other option would be to buy a $500 motorcycle which would also get 65 MPG.......
What to do?
