Seat belt laws generate cash -- written June 2006

I've heard this said and I tend to agree. Lawmakers aren't concerned for our safety. They make seat belt laws, and probably helmet laws too, simply to be able to ticket people and generate cash for the state. Why do hundreds of school buses cruise around full of children and no seat belts? That's why, there is no money in ticketing children....... Think about it.

Split speed laws are the same way. It has been proven over and over again that it is much safer to have cars and big trucks travel the same speed on highways. However if you limit the speed of big trucks to 55 the state generates tons of cash in speeding tickets. So Michigan being a bad state lets accidents happen, and people die, simply to generate income.

Think about it.
